In this quest, you encounter a charismatic weaponsmith known as Izo, who immediately becomes fascinated by the intricacies of Barret's mechanical arm. Izo has been searching for inspiration to craft the ultimate weapon, and Barret's arrival gives him just that.

To start the quest, you must first obtain a map in Izo's storage shed, which will guide you to the required resource known as Draconite Ore. After you deliver the ore to Izo, he will modify the weapon and give Barret the Fafnir Rifle, which is arguably one of the best weapons for Barret in the game. It has the Point Blank ability that uses ATB charges to create a powerful blast that can dispense a group of enemies. The mission is available in Chapter 9 on the Gongaga Village Community Noticeboard.

5 The Spice Of Life

In this quest, Cissnei extends an offer to treat Aerith and Cloud to a bowl of soup in exchange for gathering ingredients for her. You head over to Torgan's vegetable farm, where you encounter Melon, a dog selling produce. With Melon as your guide, you can gather all the remaining ingredients required to prepare Gongaga mushroom soup.

The necessary ingredients are three bright pink rock salts and the Magonga mushroom. Melon will guide you to the location of the salt deposits, but to access the mushrooms you will have to use Chocobos to sniff out the ingredients.

4 Calling All Frogs

Ribbit! In one of the most unexpected in-game events, Cloud and Tifa come across an area around Junon with kids playing where you turn into a frog if you get close. The kids ask Cloud and Tifa to join them in a Jumpfrog minigame.

The quest is action-packed, and you have to fight off some monsters as a frog before you can begin the game. Watching Cloud and Tifa as frogs is a compelling sight, and Cloud even has a mini Buster Sword at the back of his alter ego.

3 The Livestock's Bane

This side quest is only available after completion of the Break in the Saddle main mission in the second chapter of the game, which takes you through rural struggles within the world of Gaia. You will encounter a local farmer, Oliver, who suspects that a Fiend has been responsible for attacks on his livestock.

You must navigate through fields and dense forests with the help of Red XIII and Chocobos to track the fiend’s scent. Once Cloud and Red XIII have attacked the fiend, they head back to Oliver to give him the report. He is pleased with their courageous act and offers to reward Red XIII with some meat. In Chapter 12, you will find a struggling novelist, Maeve, who is trapped in the clutches of being creative. She wants to express certain themes in her writing by taking pictures which embody them.

In your quest to help her, you will have to carry out a series of tasks, one of which involves taking pictures of Red XIII which she will eventually use to create a visual story out of. The story she tells gives a reference to the animated movie, Lion King by showcasing Red XIII as a king of the forest standing on a rock. As a reward for completing the mission, you are given the Crescent Moon Charm accessory.

1 Bodybuilders In A Bind
